Vaccinations for Dogs and Cats in Bulverde, TX
We know how important your pets are to you, and our team at Bulverde Animal Hospital wants to help protect your four-legged family members. Ensuring your pet’s vaccinations are up to date can protect your pet, other pets they interact with, as well as pet parents and their families by reducing or preventing the spread of harmful viruses. Certain diseases can be contracted by pets and then passed on to humans as well, so keeping your companions healthy with dog and cat vaccinations protects your human loved ones, too.

Vaccines We Recommend for Dogs and Cats
Dogs and cats each have their own species-specific vaccines we recommend. These include core vaccines, which are recommended for virtually all dogs and cats, and non-core, or lifestyle-based vaccines.
Here are the cat and dog vaccines we offer at Bulverde Animal Hospital:
- DHP: Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvo
- Canine Flu
- Bordetella/Parainfluenza or Kennel Cough
- Optional: Rattlesnake and Lyme Disease
- FVRCP: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Herpesvirus-1, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper)
- Feline Leukemia
Essential Vaccines for Puppies and Kittens
Starting disease prevention early is essential to helping your pet live a long and healthy life with you. We recommend that puppies receive at least 3 boosters of DHP starting at 6 to 8 weeks of age, with the second and third boosters given 3 to 4 weeks apart. Spreading out your pet’s vaccine boosters gives them time to absorb the vaccine and gradually build up their immunity.
We recommend a similar vaccination schedule for kittens receiving their boosters for FVRCP. If you have any questions about vaccinating your puppy, kitten, or adult pet, our knowledgeable team is here to provide answers. Reach out to Bulverde Animal Hospital for more information!
